The Mediterranean diet may help prevent heart disease and cancer, as well as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.

 

Just what is a Mediterranean diet?

 

Individuals can follow it - Is it practical for a facility?

 

This interactive small group workshop for Dietary Managers described why a Mediterranean diet may be helpful. We identified the main characteristics of the diet. Benefits of olive oil were also discussed, and we looked at the nutritional aspects of wine. Students had a chance to practice writing a menu for a Mediterranean diet.

 

This workshop was held March 17, 2017. and was eligible for 3 general subsequent approval continuing education hours from the Association of Nutrition and Foodservice Professionals.
